Who might benefit from a medication review?
- People taking five or more medicines
- Anyone recently home from hospital, or whose medicines have changed
- People experiencing side effects, or unsure whether a medicine is still needed
- Anyone finding it hard to remember when to take their medicines
- Carers managing medicines for someone else
What happens during a medication review?
- Bring all your medicines in a bag, including vitamins, supplements, creams, inhalers and eye drops.
- Your pharmacist goes through each one with you: what it’s for, how you take it, and how it’s going.
- We check for interactions, doubling up and side effects.
- You leave with an up-to-date medicines list, and we’ll let your doctor know if anything needs attention.
Over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements count too, because they can interact with prescription medicines. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
How long does a medication review take?
Allow about 20 to 30 minutes. If you’d prefer to set a time rather than drop in, call us on (07) 5592 2099.
What happens after the review?
If your medicines are hard to keep track of, our medication packing service sorts them into weekly blister packs labelled by day and time. You can also check your blood pressure and other key numbers for free at our in-store Health Station. If something needs a doctor’s attention, the GPs at Help Medical, an independent general practice located inside our store, can see you.
